HIALEAH, Fla. -- Stanley Richardson scored to cut a two-goal definite but the No. 6-ranked Bellevue University men's soccer team saw their comeback bid fall short in a 2-1 loss to Florida College on Thursday.
With the victory, Florida College improves to 4-3-1. The loss drops Bellevue to 7-3-1 on the year.
Florida College's Leo Hackett found the back of the net in the 28th minute, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Jokubas Samsonas set up Hackett's third goal of the year with his first assist.
FC took the 1-0 lead into halftime despite Bellevue out-shooting them 8-6 for the half and 4-2 on goal while piling up a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Filip Borka made four first half saves for the Falcons and Kaden Simpson stopped the only other shot on frame that he faced.
Robbie Lloyd-Jones doubled the Falcon advantage with his 57th minute strike off an assist from Jordan Neyman. The goal was his first of the year.
Bellevue pulled a goal back in the 77th minute when Stanley Richardson found the back of the net for the second time this season. Okan Erkocu and Buster Honeywood teamed up on the assist.
Bellevue out-shot Florida College 18-12 for the match and 7-4 on goal while winning 11 corners to FC's four.
Borka finished with six saves in goal for the Falcons and Simpson finished with a pair of saves for BU in the loss.
Bellevue returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 with an 11:30 a.m. Central (12:30 p.m. Eastern) kick-off in Hialeah, Fla. against Florida National University.
