Four Bruins named to CSC Academic All-District team
GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2025 women's volleyball Academic All-District teams this afternoon, and Bellevue University had four student-athletes recognized. Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, were recognized for this honor.
Representing Bellevue University on the CSC Women's Volleyball Academic All-District team were senior middle blocker Savanna Berger (Plattsmouth, Neb.), senior outside hitter Eve Fountain (Omaha, Neb.), senior right-side hitter Kealy Kiviniemi (Bellevue, Neb.), and junior setter Mila Aiwohi (Ewa Beach, Hawaii).
Berger earned first-team AVCA all-North Region and first-team all-Frontier Conference honors after appearing in 111 sets and ranking third on the team with 233 kills (2.10 per set) on 506 attacks while hitting .320, the second-best mark on the squad. She led the Bruins with 125 total blocks (38 solo, 87 block assists) for an average of 1.13 blocks per set, and her 38 solo blocks rank 15th on BU's single-season chart. Berger, who was also named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and earned academic all-Frontier Conference honors, finished her career ranked 13th in school history with 61 block solos.
Fountain was named to the NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team and earned Frontier Conference Attacker of the Year, first-team AVCA all-North Region, and first-team all-Frontier Conference recognition. She led BU with 372 kills (3.18 per set), 44 service aces, and 447.0 points, while ranking second on the team with 370 digs (3.16 per set) and adding 52 total blocks (10 solo, 42 block assists). Fountain recorded a team-leading 14 double-doubles, posting double-figure kills in 22 matches and double-figure digs in 19 contests, highlighted by a season-high 23 kills in the Bruins' five-set win over Oklahoma Wesleyan at the NAIA National Championship and 16 kills, 28 digs, and five blocks in a five-set home victory over then-No. 1 Providence. She also recorded five service aces on two occasions against Montana Western. Fountain concluded her career as Bellevue's all-time leader in kills with 1,917 and ranks sixth in program history in both digs (1,918) and service aces (161). She was additionally recognized as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and academic all-Frontier Conference honoree.
Kiviniemi earned first-team AVCA all-North Region and first-team all-Frontier Conference honors and was named Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week on Nov. 3. She appeared in 119 of BU's 122 sets and ranked second on the team with 360 kills (3.03 per set) on 844 attacks while hitting .338. Her .338 hitting percentage led both Bellevue and the Frontier Conference, and she ranked second in the league in total kills. Kiviniemi added 11 assists, 75 digs and 77 total blocks (11 solo, 66 block assists) for 404.0 points and finished with 17 matches of double-digit kills, including a season-high 26 kills on 43 swings in a five-set match at Dickinson State on Sept. 6. An NAIA Scholar-Athlete and academic all-Frontier Conference selection, she closed her collegiate career with 1,190 kills, ranking 16th on Bellevue's all-time list.
Aiwohi earned second-team all-Frontier Conference honors and was named Frontier Conference Setter of the Week on Nov. 3. She led the Bruins with 692 assists (5.72 per set) and ranked second on the team with 35 service aces while adding 221 digs. Aiwohi finished second on the squad with seven double-doubles and ranked fourth on the team in digs. She collected a season-high 36 assists in BU's five-set win at Dakota State on Oct. 8 and added 32 assists in the Bruins' five-set home victory over then-No. 1 Providence on Nov. 1. At the NAIA National Championship, she recorded a season-best 15 digs to go with 23 assists in BU's five-set win over Oklahoma Wesleyan in pool play. She was also named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and earned academic all-Frontier Conference honors. Her 2,351 career assists rank ninth on BU's all-time career chart.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games, contests, or sets played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games, contests, or sets. The student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.
All four student-athletes will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the announcement of those teams scheduled for Jan. 13.
The Bruins wrapped up the 2025 season with a 29-5 overall record and a 20-2 mark in Frontier Conference play, finishing second in the conference regular-season standings and as runner-up at the Frontier Conference Tournament. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Championship quarterfinals for the fourth time in program history in what marked the Bruins' 18th appearance at the national tournament.
