Bellevue Sweeps MSU to Close Regular Season

MAYVILLE, N.D. -- The No. 7-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team wrapped up the regular season in decisive fashion Saturday afternoon, rolling past Mayville State University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-21), inside Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
With the victory, Bellevue improved to 24-3 overall and 20-2 in Frontier Conference play, extending its winning streak to 14 matches. The Comets finished their season at 6-21 overall and 3-18 in the league, closing the year on a four-match skid.
Bentlee Kollbaum led the attack with 10 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, while A'Lailah Perry added seven kills and three blocks. Eve Fountain tallied six kills and two blocks, and Kealy Kiviniemi chipped in five kills. Setters Victoria Runyan (18 assists) and Mila Aiwohi (15) guided a balanced offense that hit .250 as a team (38-12-104).
Defensively, Zoie Roghair anchored the back row with a match-high 23 digs and four service aces, while Ali Butler and Aiwohi added eight and seven digs, respectively. Chloe Cloud dominated at the net with six total blocks (three solo, three assists), as Bellevue out-blocked MSU 11-4 on the day.
The Comets were led by Cadynce Dewitz's seven kills. Jocelyn Assen added six kills, and Desidy Schwanke finished with five kills and 12 digs. Tori Richter paced the MSU defense with a team-high 20 digs.
Set 1 – Bellevue 25, Mayville State 20:
In a tightly contested opener featuring four ties, Bellevue closed strong with a 6-1 run to secure the set. Cloud was a force at the net with four blocks, while Fountain and Perry combined for five kills.
Set 2 – Bellevue 25, Mayville State 14:
The Bruins hit .303 in the second frame while limiting the Comets to -.054. Perry led the way with four kills, and Kollbaum added three as Bellevue used a 13-5 run to pull away late for a 2-0 match lead.
Set 3 – Bellevue 25, Mayville State 21:
MSU rallied to tie the set at 21-all following three straight points capped by a Lindsey Nyhagen ace, but Bellevue responded by scoring the final four points — a Kiviniemi kill followed by three consecutive MSU attack errors — to close out the sweep.

All-American outside hitter Eve Fountain continues her ascent on Bellevue's career charts:
Kills: 1,835 – ranks second all-time, trailing only Sierra Athen (1,886 / 2018–22).
Digs: 1,846 – now sixth all-time, having passed Rachel Muller (1,829 / 2006–09) and Brenda Quinn (1,831 / 1997–00). Next on the list is Annie Viviano (2,160 / 1993–96).
Additional active career leaders include:
Mila Aiwohi – ninth in program history with 2,219 assists, chasing Kathy Kent (2,439 / 1994–95) for eighth.
Kealy Kiviniemi – 1,114 career kills, ranking 17th, just behind Stacey Hines (1,135 / 1998–01).

Bellevue finished second in the final Frontier Conference regular-season standings and will compete next Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 13–15, in the Frontier Conference Tournament in Helena, Mont. The tournament champion earns an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship.
