Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 6-0 outside hitter/rightside hitter Peyton Schendt (Papillion, Neb./Army West Point/New Mexico Military Prep/Papillion-LaVista South HS) to a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at BU beginning this fall.
Schendt, the daughter of Scott and Jodi Schendt, played one season at NCAA Division I Army West Point and one season at New Mexico Military Institute. She will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Bruins.
During the 2019 season at Army, Schendt appeared in 29 sets over 17 matches for the Black Knights. She recorded 43.0 points and 35 kills with 18 total blocks.
Schendt led NMMI in 2018 with a team-high 491 kills and was second with 388 digs, earning first-team NJCAA All-American honors in the process. She helped guide the Broncos to a 29-9 overall record and an appearance in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Championship.
"What a great opportunity to have a local player come back home to finish out her career," said Siedlik. "We are humbled to have that opportunity for those that live around here to choose us to finish their careers. Peyton will add much-needed depth on both the outside and rightside. We can't wait to get started working with her!"
A four-year letterwinner under coaches Brad Reichmuth and Elena Pietro at Papillion-LaVista South High School, Schendt was a two-time team captain, earning first-team Class A all-state honors during her senior season. She was a three-time all-Metro Conference honoree and was also selected to play in the 2018 Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Match. Schendt recorded 930 kills, 282 digs, and 186 blocks during her Titan career.
Schendt joins earlier signees Raeanne Kimoto (5-3, L/DS, Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt HS), Haley Fleischman (6-0, MB/RS, Overton, Neb., Overton HS), Taylor Kudym (5-10, MB, Eagle, Neb./Waverly HS), Sidney Sledge (5-10, S/RS, Omaha, Neb./Marian HS), and Maya Morales (5-6, L/DS, West Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City HS) in the 2021 recruiting class.
