Myers signs with Bruin volleyball for 2016

Bruin head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-11 middle blocker Emma Myers (Treynor, Iowa/Treynor HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2016. 

Myers, the daughter of Jay and Sally Myers, will join her sister Gracie Myers, who will be a sophomore right side for the Bruins next season. 

A two-time all-conference, first team all-district, and honorable mention all-state selection for coach Kara Huisman at Treynor High School, Myers led the Cardinals to a 26-9 record in 2015, while finishing second in school history for blocks in a season with 67 and leading her team with 240 kills and a .362 hitting percentage.

Myers was a three-sport letterwinner at Treynor in volleyball, softball and track, while also earning letters in basketball as the team's manager. 

"Emma is an exciting addition to the Bruin progam and she comes from a wonderful family," said Siedlik. "We have seen her really develop this past year and enhance her overall skills. She is as athletic as her sister, Gracie, and will add depth to the middle with her height, athleticism and court awareness. Emma will learn a lot and develop even further next year as one of only two incoming freshmen joining a veteran group."

Myers played club volleyball for Southwest Iowa Third Degree under coach Mark Neill. 

An excellent student, Myers was named to the Honor Roll every year during her high school career. 

Myers joins earlier signees Maddie Squiers (Kearney, Neb./Kearney Catholic HS), Verenice Chapparo (Littleton, Colo./Ashford/Columbine HS) and Pakalana Helekahi (Hana, Hawaii/Ashford University/Hana HS) in BU's 2016 recruiting class.  

The Bruins finished the season with a 22-17 overall record, advancing to the NSAA semifinals, while receiving votes in the final NAIA Coaches' top 25 poll.
