Bruins host Trinity Christian in NAIA Opening Round
The Bellevue University volleyball team will host CCAC Tournament champion Trinity Christian on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 17th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team will host Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament champion Trinity Christian College on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round.
The match will be played at Bellevue University's Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
The Bruins qualified for the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the seventh-straight year and for the eighth time in school history. Bellevue owns a 10-16 all-time record in the tournament.
The winner of the Bellevue-Trinity Christian match will advance to the 24-team NAIA Volleyball National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa on Dec. 3-7 at the Tyson Event Center/Gateway Arena.
The following teams received an opening round bye: Texas at Brownsville, Concordia (Calif.), Biola, Madonna, Northwestern (Iowa), Midland, Oklahoma Baptist, MidAmerica Nazarene, Vanguard, Lindsey Wilson, Columbia (Mo.) and host Briar Cliff.
Bellevue (34-8) won both the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season (12-0) and tournament titles, receiving the league's automatic berth. Bellevue defeated College of the Ozarks in the MCAC Tournament championship match on Saturday.
Trinity Christian (36-7) is making its second National Tournament appearance after defeating Cardinal Stritch University 3-1 in the CCAC Tournament championship match on Nov. 16.
