Broady, DeBoer named to AVCA all-Region team

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Senior Jordan Broady and junior Sydney DeBoer were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-West Central Region first team in an announcement made today by the AVCA All-American selection committee.

In addition, junior Annie Benson earned honorable mention honors.

For the third time in her career, Broady was named to the all-West Central first team. The MCAC Player of the Year ranks second in the NAIA with 1,668 assists. She has recorded 16 double-doubles this season, including five triple-doubles.

DeBoer paces the Bruins with 139 blocks while adding 362 kills. The first team all-MCAC selection has recorded at least one block in 39 of 43 matches played this year.

Benson leads the team with 451 kills this season and has notched 14 double-doubles, including a 20-kill and 12-dig performance in the Bruins' 3-2 win over fifth-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Aeronautical University last night.

The 23rd-ranked Bruins (36-9) will continue pool play action at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship tonight with an 8:00 p.m. match against No. 8 Hastings College.

Former Bruin assistant coach Matt Buttermore was named the region's Coach of the Year.
