Humes lands Offensive Player of the Week nod from CAC
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior midfielder Lily Humes (Bournemouth, England) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday.
Humes scored the game-winning goal in Bellevue's 2-0 season-opening victory at Northwestern College on Saturday. Bellevue dominated the early possession and finally capitalized on Humes' strike in the 16th minute. She took a long cross at the back post in the middle of the box, at the back post, settled, and slotted home the first BU goal of the season.
The goal was the fourth of her Bruin career and first game-winner, while the Player of the Week nod is also her first.
Bellevue returns to the pitch on Saturday, Aug. 30 for a 3 p.m. match in Mitchell, S.D. against Dakota Wesleyan University from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
