Women's Soccer announces signing of Espinoza
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue women's soccer program, under head coach Andy Nicolarsen, is pleased to announce the signing of Genesis Espinoza to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2017.
Genesis comes to Bellevue from Iowa Lakes Community College where she competed for the Lakers over the past two seasons. Originally from Denver Colorado, she graduated from Lincoln High School. Last season Genesis played in goal for ILCC and helped lead the team to a 9-6-1 record and a semifinal finish in the NJCAA Region XI Tournament.
Coach Nicolarsen said of Genesis, that "she is an experienced goal keeper with proven success at the college level. She is also a very good attacking player that can score goals and create opportunities in the final third. Her versatility makes her a great signing for the program. I look forward to having her with us next fall."
Genesis joins earlier signees Jayda Noble (Bellevue, Neb.), Kylee Mastromonaco (Papillion, Neb.), Brooke Harold (Council Bluffs, Iowa), Emma Philipson (Omaha, Neb.), Katie Hayes (Raymore, Mo.), Abby Furley (Gretna, Neb.), Laura Cook (Bellevue, Neb.), Marilia Lages (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Lays Freitas (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Sabrina Staufenbiel (Monchengladbach, Germany), and Jennifer Romero (Denver, Colo.).
This past season the Bruins posted a 12-5-1 overall record and a 3-1-0 mark in conference play en route to claiming both the North Star Regular-Season and Tournament Championships. BU closed the season on a high note, winning four-straight games and posting an 8-1-1 mark in their final 10 contests.
