Women’s Soccer tabbed as NSAA preseason favorites in narrow poll
Bellevue edged out Viterbo to take the number one spot in North Star Preseason Coaches' Poll
MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue edged Viterbo (Wis.) to claim the top spot in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, announced Monday. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. The preseason poll was voted by the league's head coaches.
The Bruins, who finished 2014 season with an overall record of 16-2 and qualified for the NAIA national tournament, garnered three first-place votes and recorded 15 points in the preseason poll. VU earned the final two first-place votes and had 14 points to finish second in the poll.
Jamestown (N.D.) finished third with 10 points, followed by Waldorf (Iowa) fourth with 7 points and Presentation (S.D.) fifth with 4 points.
Bellevue opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 22 with a 7:00 p.m. match at Grace (Ind.). The team plays their first-ever NSAA contest against Viterbo on Saturday, Oct. 3 at noon against Viterbo at Bellevue Soccer Club.
