POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team was picked second in the 2014 MCAC Pre-season Coaches' Poll released today.
Defending MCAC regular season champion Oklahoma Wesleyan University topped the poll.
The Bruins return eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last season's 10-8-3 squad that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the fourth-straight season after capturing the MCAC Tournament title with a 2-1 upset over top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan.
Four returners, Sammy Sinecio, Mercy Darkoah, Yaritza Estrada, and Kate Petersen, earned first team all-league honors in 2013. In addition, Petersen was named the MCAC Defensive Player of the Year and Lauren Clark was tabbed as the MCAC Freshman of the Year.
Bellevue will welcome 11 newcomers to the 2014 roster. BU opens the 2014 campaign by hosting Northwestern (Iowa) College on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at Tranquility Park.
