Soccer matches moved to Doane
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's and women's exhibition soccer matches scheduled for tonight (Monday, Aug. 22), have been moved to Crete, Neb. due to unplayable field conditions at Tranquility Park. Game times are slated for 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The BU women's program finished 2010 with a 15-4-2 overall record, including a 5-0 mark in the MCAC and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history after winning the Unaffiliated Group Tournament title. BU opens the regular season at Concordia (Neb.) University on Aug. 27 for a 5:00 p.m. kick-off in Seward, Neb.
Matt Briggs is in his fifth season as the head men's soccer coach at BU and led the Bruins to the 2010 MCAC regular season title with a 4-0 mark and ended the season with a 13-6-1 overall record. Bellevue finished second in the MCAC/DAC/Frontier Unaffiliated Group Tournament, losing 2-1 to the University of Great Falls in the championship game. The Bruins will open the regular season at MidAmerica Nazarene University on Aug. 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
