Pinedo’s 73 helps Bruins secure final cut spot at NAIA Championship
YPSILANTI, Mich. — Senior Maria Pinedo fired a 1-over 73 and freshman Tilde-Li Andersson added a steady 76 on Wednesday as Bellevue University secured the final advancing position at the 2025 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, hosted at Eagle Crest Golf Course (par 72, 5,895 yards).
The Bruins, who started on the back nine, posted a second-round 310, improving by four strokes from their opening-round score. With a 36-hole total of 624 (+48), BU finished the day in 15th place, landing directly on the cut line to advance to the championship's final two rounds. The field was trimmed to the top 15 teams (plus ties) and the top six individuals (plus ties) not on advancing teams.
Pinedo led the way with a composed round that featured three birdies — on holes 1, 7, and 16 — and an even-par 36 on the front nine. Her 73 was the Bruins' low round of the week and moved her into a tie for 15th place individually at 150 (+6), just one shot outside the top 10.
Andersson contributed a 76 (+4), highlighted by birdies on holes 11 and 13. The freshman now sits tied for 40th at 155 (+11) heading into Thursday's third round.
Senior Chloe Blandinieres posted an 80 (+8), collecting birdies on holes 2, 6, and 15, and carded a 38 on the front nine. Her 36-hole total of 157 (+13) puts her in a tie for 47th overall.
Junior Aaricia Noel-Traissac made the biggest turnaround in the lineup, shaving 10 strokes off her opening round to finish with an 81 (+9). She stands at 172 (+28), tied for 77th.
Senior Ilysia Ibnu added an 82 (+10), with a birdie on the par-4 14th. Her two-day total of 163 (+19) places her in a tie for 65th.
Three of BU's five players improved on their opening-day scores, and the Bruins' collective effort helped them hold on to a top-15 position in a field of 30 teams.
Top-ranked British Columbia leads the championship at 585 (+9) after rounds of 297 and 288. Marian (IN) sits second at 597 (+21), followed by Keiser at 600 (+24).
Individually, Jessica Ng of British Columbia leads the 155-player field after back-to-back rounds of 69 to sit at 138 (-6). First-round leader Sharon Shan of SCAD Savannah is second at 142 (-2) following a 77 on Wednesday.
The Bruins will tee off at 9:30 a.m. (CT) in Thursday's third round as one of 15 teams still in contention at the NAIA's premier women's golf event.
