Pinedo earns weekly conference honor
BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the fourth time this season and the 12th time in her Bruin career, senior Maria Pinedo has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance at last week's Bent Tree Intercollegiate played at the 5,861-yard, par-72 Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Pinedo placed second in the Bent Tree Intercollegiate's 50-player field, finishing at 8-over par over the 36-hole event. She helped guide the Bruins to a third-place finish in the field of eight teams.
Pinedo fired rounds of 1-over 73 and 7-over 79. She collected three birdies and 23 pars over the two rounds.
Pinedo currently leads the Bruins with four top-5 finishes on the season and a 78.2 strokes-per-round average.
The postseason is next on Bellevue's schedule, as the Bruins will host the final two rounds of the NSAA Championship on Monday-Tuesday, Apr. 28-29 at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Neb., with tee times slated for 8 a.m. each day. The Bruins hold a 24-stroke lead through two rounds, played at Crossroads Golf Course in Carrington, N.D., during the fall.
