Bruins edge host Doane to take Kaitlyn Erickson title by single stroke
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Tilde-Li Andersson and Maria Pinedo took home top five finishes for the Bellevue University women's golf team as the Bruins took home the team title at the at the 14-team Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invitational.
Bellevue shot a 30-over, 314 on the day as they finished in second with a two-day total of 646 (+78). Day two was played at the 5,839-yard, par-71 Pioneers Golf Course after Monday's first round was held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course.
Doane shot a 30-over, 314 as a team as they were unable to gain on their one-stroke deficit, finishing at 79-over (647).
Rounding out the top five were Morningside University (+105), Dakota Wesleyan University (+105), and Mount Marty University (+109).
Mount Marty's Kelsey Heath took home the individual title with a 12-over 156, shooting 5-over in Tuesday's second round.
Tilde-Lie Andersson and Maria Pinedo shared fourth place honors finishing at 18-over (160) apiece. Andersson fired an 8-over 79, improving two strokes from Monday while Pinedo matched her first round score with another 9-over 780. Both golfers birdied the 477-yard, par 5 No. 6 with Pinedo adding another on the 348-yard, par 4 No. 12.
Ilysia Ibnu posted Bellevue's best round of the tournament, carding a 4-over 76. She jumped 10 spots for a seventh place finish with a two-day total of 161 (+19). Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the 105-yard, par 3 No. 17 as she shot 1-under on the back nine.
Megan Harty tallied a pair of birdies, doing so on No. 6 and No. 12. She shot a 12-over 83 on the day to finish in 24th place at 27-over.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac climbed seven places on the individual leaderboard to finish in 21st place at 26-over (168). She made a birdie on No. 6 en route to an 8-over 79.
Chloe Blandinieres, playing as an individual, shot a 12-over 83 second round on Tuesday to finish 25-over (167) in 19th place. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the 492-yard, par 5 No. 11.
The Bruins are back in action next week when they compete at the Bent Tree Invitational in Council, Bluffs, Iowa. The tournament is being hosted by Iowa Western Community College at Bent Tree Golf Club.
