Women's Golf adds three international recruits for 2025-26
BELLEVUE, Neb. — Bellevue University head women's golf coach Craig Marsh announced the signings of three student-athletes who will join the Bruins for the 2025-26 season: Nellie Forsén of Linköping, Sweden; Cristina Garcia of Caracas, Venezuela; and Isabella Gómez of Cajicá, Colombia.
All three will begin their academic and athletic careers at BU in the fall of 2025.
Nellie Forsén
Forsén, the daughter of Jan-Erik and Emma Forsén, attended Birgittaskolan High School and was coached by Petter Ederö. She plans to major in Sport Management at Bellevue.
A standout on the Swedish junior golf circuit, Forsén helped Team Landeryd to a national championship in 2024 and a runner-up finish at the junior national team championships in 2023. She also earned second place at the Swedish Junior Tour event at Torshälla Golf Club in 2024 and won her club championship at Loftahammar Golf Club in 2023.
Forsén carries a handicap of 2.8 and an average score of 80.
In addition to golf, Forsén participated in handball, dance, soccer, and tennis. She was team captain in handball for three seasons in Swedish Division 2 (2020–2022). She also ran two companies during high school.
Cristina Garcia
Garcia, the daughter of Jorge Garcia and Patricia Rojas, prepped at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola. She will major in Criminal Justice at Bellevue.
Garcia has been a consistent performer on the Venezuelan junior golf circuit. Her golf honors include a first-place finish at the 2021 Torneo Apertura at La Salina Golf Club, a tied-for-second finish at the 2021 Torneo PreJuvenil at Barquisimeto Golf Club, third place at the 2023 Abierto Valle Arriba, and a third-place finish at the 2024 Torneo Abierto La Lagunita in Caracas.
Garcia's twin brother, Diego, currently plays collegiate golf at Truett McConnell University.
She owns a handicap of 11.9 and an average score of 82.
Garcia also competed in swimming and tennis at the middle school level. She was active in Model United Nations, receiving multiple awards, including Best Delegate and Best International Delegation at Harvard Model United Nations (2022, 2023) and an honorable mention at TESMUN 2021. Garcia graduated with a 3.7 GPA.
Isabella Gómez
Gómez, the daughter of Alfonso Gómez and Sandra Garzón, is a graduate of Gimnasio los Caobos. She will study International Business Administration at Bellevue.
A highly decorated junior player, Gómez earned top finishes at several U.S. and international events in 2024, including top-5 finishes at the Disney LBV and Lake Nona Junior Opens and a sixth-place showing at the 54th Junior Open at Orange County National. She also captured first and second-place finishes in the US Kids Local Tour and qualified for four national championships in Colombia.
Gómez holds a handicap of 6 and an average score of 79.
Her academic achievements include participation in six school Model United Nations conferences and the PYP Exhibition. Gómez's sister, Valentina, graduated from Florida International University, and her cousin, Santiago, is a collegiate cyclist at Milligan University.
Gómez also participated in cheerleading, competing at level 2 of 3 on her high school's team.
