Women's Golf picked first in NSAA Preseason Coaches' Poll
The Bruins are favored to place first and claim a third-straight NSAA title, according to the league’s coaches
MADISON, S.D. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team is the favorite to finish first in the North Star Athletic Association Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Bellevue tallied five of six first place votes and beat out Viterbo – who received the other first place vote – by a total of 34-31 to earn top billing in the poll. Waldorf (23 points) and Jamestown (20 points) were selected to finish third and fourth, respectively while Valley City State (10 points) and Dickinson State (8 points) rounded out the poll.
Bellevue opens the 2017/18 season on Friday, Sept. at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational in Bourbonnais, Ill.
There are four rounds in the North Star Athletic Association Women's Golf Tournament, with the first two rounds being held in the fall on Sept. 24-25 in Medora, N.D. and the final two rounds taking place in the spring on Apr. 23-24 in Albert Lea, Minn.
The winner of the NSAA Women's Golf Conference Tournament (after all four rounds are completed) will receive the league's automatic team bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The NAIA Women's Golf National Tournament is slated to take place at the in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. from May 22-25.
Last season BU claimed their second-straight NSAA Tournament championship to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament where they placed 25th as a team.
