Bruins in fourth after first round of DWU Invite

MITCHELL, S.D. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the Dakota Wesleyan University Palace City Classic at Lakeview golf course on Friday.

Ana Laura Gomez shot a 78, which ranks fourth overall. Christina VonRiesen recorded a score of 86 (T12), while Dawn Florance and Jayme Harmelink each registered an opening round score of 87, which puts them in a tie for 17th place overall. Taylor Byers shot an 88.

Host Dakota Wesleyan leads the tournament with team score of 327. The Bruins are 11 strokes back with a first round score of 338.

DWU's Danielle Ballet paces the tournament field with a first round score of two-under par (70).

The DWU Palace City Classic will conclude on Saturday with a shotgun start at Wild Oak golf course.
