BU Softball signs Canadian catcher Marguerite Brown

BELLEVUE, Neb. — Bellevue University head softball coach Michala Cimino announced the signing of Marguerite Brown, a transfer catcher from Kankakee Community College (Kankakee, Ill.), as the sixth signee in the Bruins' 2025-26 recruiting class.

Brown, a 5-foot-8 catcher from Chatham, Ontario, will arrive at BU with two years of eligibility remaining. She helped lead KCC to a 44-16 overall record in 2025 and a berth in the NJCAA Region IV Final Four.

A standout for the Cavaliers, Brown earned First Team All-Region honors in both 2024 and 2025. She was named Region IV Tournament MVP in 2024 and served as a team captain during both seasons. As a sophomore, Brown batted .461 with four home runs, 20 doubles, one triple, 39 RBIs, and five stolen bases. Over her two-year career, she posted a .436 average, 19 home runs, 29 doubles, two triples, 109 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases.

Brown prepped at Chatham-Kent Secondary School and played club softball for the Chatham Golden Eagles and Woodstock D1 Nationals, coached by Bryan Depencier. She helped her club teams earn multiple provincial medals and was part of the first Canadian team to play in the PGF Tournament in Anaheim, Calif. In 2023, she helped her team to a bronze medal at the Canadian Nationals (U19) and produced the highest batting average at the tournament.

Her earlier accolades include the PWSA Top Player Award in 2017 and a gold medal at Provincials in 2023.

Off the field, Brown has been named to the Honor Roll in all four college semesters and plans to major in Kinesiology at Bellevue.

Brown joins earlier signees Carly Bertolini (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-La Vista HS), Alivia Courter (Yutan, Neb./Millard West HS), Macie Wyman (Omaha, Neb./Millard West HS), Bayla Bodnar (Ralston, Neb./Ralston HS), and Lindsey Dressman (Marysville, Kan./Marysville HS) in the Bruins' 2025-26 recruiting class.

Bellevue posted a 29-21 overall record during the 2025 season, finishing third in the North Star Athletic Association regular-season standings.
