CHICKASHA, Okla. -- The Bellevue University softball team split a pair of games Saturday, falling to No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City, 11-1, in five innings, before rebounding with a 7-5 upset victory over 18th-ranked Central Methodist, 7-5. The Bruins' third game of the day against Tabor College was canceled due to cold weather conditions.
With the split, the Bruins move to 5-1 on the season.
Bellevue will continue action tomorrow in Chickasha when they battle Mt. Marty College at 11 a.m. and Friends University at 1 p.m.

Top-ranked Oklahoma City exploded for 10 runs over the fourth and fifth innings en route to an 11-1 victory in five innings in the Bruins' opener. The Stars outhit BU 14-2 in the contest as five OCU players had multiple hits.
The highlight for the Bruins was Erin Sharpe's solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.
Monique Ashley (3-1) suffered her first loss of the season, allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts in four innings in the circle.
Bellevue 7, #18 Central Methodist 5
The Bruins scored five second-inning runs, highlighted by a three-run triple from Ellie Bliemeister, en route to the 7-5 victory over CMU in the nightcap.
Brieanna Brock (2-0) picked up her second victory of the season, scattering four hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters. Ashley earned her first save of the season, striking out three batters in the seventh to preserve the 7-5 victory.
