Bellevue is preseason favorite to win MCAC title
The Bellevue University softball team is picked to finish first in the MCAC preseason coaches' poll in an announcement made by the league office.
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University softball team is picked to finish first in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll in an announcement made by the league office.
Bellevue is ranked No. 20 in the NAIA preseason poll following a 42-11 overall record and a 14-3 conference mark a season ago. The Bruins advanced to the NAIA National Tournament after winning the MCAC Tournament title in 2013.
Central Baptist College, last year's MCAC regular season champion, was picked second. The Mustangs went 35-16 including a 16-2 MCAC record while Oklahoma Wesleyan University was picked third (35-18 overall, 16-4 MCAC in 2013).
Rounding out the preseason poll includes Waldorf College (4th), College of Saint Mary (5th), York College (6th), Central Christian College (7th) and Haskell Indian Nations University (8th).
The Bruins open the season on Feb. 28-March 6 when they play in the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
