Bruin softball inks Kansas standout Woten
The Bellevue softball program has announced today the signing of Sayde Woten (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East HS) to a letter of intent.
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball program, under head coach Michala Cimino, has announced today the signing of Sayde Woten (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2014.
The daughter of Josh and Lorie, Woten was coached by Jeff Hulse at Olathe East High School. Her older brother, Jake, played collegiate football at Texas State University.
Woten, who also wrestled for six years and qualified for state once, earned honorable mention all-conference accolades as a catcher in 2013. She batted .384 with five home runs, 17 doubles, seven triples and 71 RBIs in her career for the Hawks.
She was an honor roll student and two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American. She intends to major in business and marketing at Bellevue.
Woten played club softball for the Kansas City Blaze and DeSoto Belles under coaches Tom Ansley and Jay Garvin.
Woten joins earlier signees Kristine Kimberley (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale HS), Sarah Zeleny (Gretna, Neb./Gretna HS), Emily Gigax (Omaha, Neb./Ralston HS), Alexandra Tooley (Bellevue, Neb./Gross Catholic HS) and Michaela Miller (Wahoo, Neb./Wahoo HS) in the 2014 recruiting class.
The Bruins finished the 2013 season with a 42-11 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title, while advancing to the NAIA Softball National Championships Opening Round.
