Cimino signs Yutan standout, Fisher

The Bruin softball program, under head coach Michala Cimino, announced the signing of pitcher Kelli Jo Fisher to a letter of intent to compete for the Bruins beginning in the fall of 2012. 

Fisher, the daughter of Rick and Nancy Fisher, played for head coach Val Reiman at Yutan High School and for Marc Kurz with the Omaha Quakes, which qualified for Nationals 11-straight years.

A member of three-straight East Central Conference championsip teams, Fisher helped guide Yutan to the 2008 Nebraska Class C state title and was twice named to the all-state first team by both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.   

Fisher earned first team all-conference honors on two occasions and was honorary captain of the 2008 all-district team, while twice earning first team all-district accolades. 

Off the field, Fisher was Yutan High School's student body president and homecoming queen in 2011 as well as a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society. She was also a two-time academic all-state selection and on the school's Honor Roll all four years of high school. 

The Bruins finished the 2011 season with a 32-19 overall record, a 12-0 MCAC mark, the MCAC regular season and tournament titles, and the program's second-straight appearance at the NAIA Softball National Championship.

Bellevue opens the 2012 season at the Saint Gregory's Tournament on Feb. 24-25 in Farmer's Branch, Texas.
