Bruins pick up two wins at NTC Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Bellevue University softball team picked up a pair of wins Tuesday at the National Training Center Spring Games, defeating the University of St. Francis (Ill.), 10-9, and Urbana University , 4-2.
The Bruins improved to 4-7 on the season witht the two wins.
Bellevue 10, Saint Francis 9
With the game knotted at 9-9 in the bottom of the seventh, junior Kim Wees hit a hard shot up the middle, scoring Kathryn Wardian to give the Bruins the dramatic 10-9 victory. Wees went 4-for-5 in the contest, while Melissa Ackley finished 3-for-4 at the plate.
Bellevue 4, Urbana 2
Wees drove in two runs in the victory, while Amanda Neumann added an RBI and Kelsie Bridgeford blasted a solo shot in the seventh. Taylor Mohler earned the victory, allowing just three hits.
The Bruins will continue action at the tournament on Wednesday (March 7) with a 9 a.m. game against College of St. Rose and an 11 a.m. contest against St. Joseph's (Ind.) University.
