Softball picked second in MCAC Preseason Poll

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. - The Bellevue University softball team was picked to finish second in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll released Wednesday (Feb. 8) by the conference office. 

The Bruins return seven starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's 32-19 squad that captured the MCAC regular season (12-0) and tournament titles for the second-straight season. Bellevue also advanced to the NAIA National Championships for the second-consecutive year.

Bellevue has won 35-straight regular season conference games dating back to the 2008 season.  

Conference newcomer Central Baptist College has been picked as the favorite to win the 2012 MCAC Softball Championship.

The Mustangs, who are ranked fourth nationally in the NAIA Preseason Top 25, finished 2011 with a 57-7 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.

Rounding out the poll are York College (3rd), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (4th), College of Saint Mary (5th), Haskell Indian Nations University (6th), Central Christian College (7th) and Southwestern Christian University (8th).
