Newton, Wooten named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Men's Track & Field Scholar-Athletes today and two Bruins were named to the prestigious list, Aaron Newton and Kaleb Wooten.

Collin Kotz earned all-conference honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a third-place finish.
BU adds two more all-NSAA performances in Day Two of NSAA Outdoor Championships

The final day of the NSAA Outdoor Track Championships saw the Bruin distance squad add two more all-conference finishes (top three in individual events). The Bruins ended the meet with four such performances.

Kotz takes steeplechase win at Prairie Wolf Invite

Highlighting the day was Collin Kotz's victory in the day's opening event, the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kotz was the early leader and led throughout the race, followed closely by a Nebraska Wesleyan athlete. With 100 meters to go, Kotz had to hold off his challenger and did so for a narrow 0.12-second win. Kotz's time was 9:50.07, just off his season best of 9:47.

Skies finally clear for breakout performances by BU distance teams

After poor weather prompted Doane University to postpone Friday and Saturday's events at the Jim Dutcher Invite, the Bruin distance track squad finally found some conditions conducive to fast running on Sunday afternoon in Crete. Partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s allowed two Bruins to establish new school records while two others had big personal bests.

Bruin Women sweep distance events at Sioux City Relays

For the first time in program history, two Bruin women captured titles at the long-running Sioux City Relays held Friday. Hannah Perkins and Madison Nelson ran to victories in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter events, respectively.

Three school records highlight day at USD Early Bird

The Bruin distance track squad traveled to Vermillion, South Dakota, for Friday's Early Bird Invite hosted by the University of South Dakota. A large field comprised of teams from all NCAA levels, the NAIA and NJCAA were greeted by pleasant conditions of sunny skies, temperatures in the low 60's, and a breeze out of the south. Highlights for the Bruins included three school-record-breaking performances.

Bruin Distance accepts Central Nebraska Challenge

The Bruin distance track team traveled to Kearney for Saturday's Central Nebraska Challenge hosted by UNK and Hastings College. Good early season conditions with temperatures in the 50's, sunny skies and light winds greeted competitors from fifteen area schools representing all NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

Bruins Open Outdoor Track Season at Wildcat Classic

Just three short weeks after concluding their indoor track season, the Bruins were back in action at Saturday's season-opening Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State. Cool conditions with temperatures in the mid-40's and blustery winds created conditions difficult for personal bests, but the Bruins still came away with some good first-meet marks.

Khvichava’s Four Gold Medals Highlight NSAA Indoor Championships

Saba Khvichava brought home four gold medals from Sunday’s NSAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held on the 300-meter oval at South Dakota State University. For his efforts, Khvichava was awarded the NSAA Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Meet. He led the Bruins to their best team finish in program history, a fifth-place finish scoring 57 points. (Top eight places score 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1).

Marcoux Punches Ticket to NAIA Championships

Richard Marcoux joined Saba Khvichava as a qualifier for the NAIA indoor track and field championships with his performance at Friday's Concordia Invite in Seward, Neb. Marcoux, and Khvichava will be the first-ever Bruin representatives at the NAIA national championship meet in Brookings, S.D. on March 2-4.

Bruin Track Splits Squads; Khvichava Runs National Qualifier at Husker Invite

The Bruin distance track team split their squad over the weekend, competing in the Concordia Classic in Seward on Friday evening and the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln on Saturday. The highlight of the weekend was the Bruin's first-ever NAIA national qualifying mark for indoor track turned in by Saba Khvichava.

Aaron Newton finished fifth in the 800 meters and is currently fifth in the NSAA.
Bruin Men continue improvement at Fred Beile Track Classic

The Bruin men's distance track team continued to cut time from personal bests at Saturday's Fred Beile Indoor Track Classic hosted by Doane University. The Bruins have positioned themselves at the top or among the leaders in the North Star as the conference meet approaches in three weeks.

Records Continue to Fall at Prairie Wolf Indoor Track

The Bruins distance track men set records of the school, personal and seasonal variety at Friday's Prairie Wolf Indoor Track Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan at UNL's Devaney Center. Three school records fell, and every other Bruin athlete had either a lifetime or seasonal best on the day.

The Bruin distance track squad opened its 2023 indoor track campaign at Saturday's Scott Nisely Memorial on the campus of Doane University. The Bruin men established two school records among a number of quality early-season performances.
