Honeywood tabbed as CAC Defensive Player of the Week
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University junior defender Buster Honeywood (Kessingland, England) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday morning.
Honeywood had a hand in all three Bruin goals in BU's 3-1 victory over Briar Cliff on Saturday night. He delivered assists on each of the team's first two goals and scored a 72nd minute insurance strike from a set piece. He also anchored the defensive efforts in a 1-0 win over Concordia on Wednesday, helping Bellevue post its fifth shutout of the season.
The weekly honor is the first such award of Honeywood's career after he has twice been named honorable mention all-CAC and a member of last season's CAC All-Tournament Team. The Bruins are 6-1-1 on the season overall and No. 9 in the coaches' poll with a new edition of the poll set for release on Wednesday.
Bellevue entertains University of Science & Arts tomorrow for a 2 p.m. kick-off from the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex.
