Wray recognized by CAC for Defensive prowess
Harry Wray (Darlington, England) has been named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bruins’ win over Waldorf on Saturday.
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior Harry Wray (Darlington, England) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday morning.
In the Bruins' 3-0 win over Waldorf, Wray came on as a second half substitute and, just 1:11 later, faced a penalty kick. He stopped the initial shot from Waldorf's Daniel Pinkney as well as Pinkney's rebound header to preserve the clean sheet.
It was the seventh shutout in Bellevue's last eight games and eighth overall on the season.
The award is the fourth Player of the Week award of Wray's BU career, the other three coming in his freshman season.
Bellevue (13-2-2) is the top seed in this weekend's CAC Tournament. The Bruins face No. 4-seed Viterbo University (16-0-1) at 4 p.m. in a semifinal match with the winner earning a spot in Saturday's final as well as the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round.
