BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University men's soccer coach Mark Heath-Preston announced today the signing of Marvin Ramirez (Omaha, Neb./Westside HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2018.
Ramirez is the son of Jaime and Josefina Ramirez and played high school soccer at Westside High School under head coach John Brian. As a senior Ramirez tallied 11 goals and nine assists to lead Westside to the Class A State Final.
Ramirez is no stranger to playing games on a big stage as he twice helped Westside to the State Championship Game and won two state titles at the club level with Omaha FC.
Coach Heath-Preston on Ramirez:
"We are excited to bring Marvin to Bellevue University as he has had a very successful high school career. We are excited to see how he develops and increase the competition within the squad."
Ramirez joins earlier signees in the 2018 class: Harry Atkins (Norwich, Norfolk, England), Alexis Martinez (Omaha, Neb.), Kortlan Franke (Gretna, Neb.), Emil Gebelhoff (Cologne, Germany), and Jon Stublla (Berlin, Germany).
This past season the Bruins posted an overall mark of 8-7-2 (4-0-0) en route to securing their fourth-straight regular-season league title and reaching the semifinals of the Association of Independent Institutions Tournament.
