Bellevue signs German CM Stublla

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University men's soccer coach Mark Heath-Preston announced today the signing of Jon Stublla (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Tiergarten) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2018.

Stublla is the son of Avni and Miranda Stublla and is currently playing for SV Empor Berlin in the Berlin-Liga under head coach Jorg Schwanke. Stublla has totaled six goals and six assists over his two seasons with SV Empor Berlin. He has played predominantly as a number 8 (central midfielder).

As a youth team player Stublla played in the second-highest league in Germany, lacing up his boots for Fuchse Berlin and BAK.

Stublla attended Gymnasium Tiergarten and intends to major in Business Analysis and Management at Bellevue.

Coach Heath-Preston on Stublla:

"We are excited to bring Jon to Bellevue University as he can come in and make an immediate impact. With his playing experience in Germany we are excited for him to develop even more within the next four years."

Stublla joins earlier signees in the 2018 class: Harry Atkins (Norwich, Norfolk, England), Alexis Martinez (Omaha, Neb.), Kortlan Franke (Gretna, Neb.), and Emil Gebelhoff (Cologne, Germany).

This past season the Bruins posted an overall mark of 8-7-2 (4-0-0 NSAA) en route to securing their fourth-straight regular-season league title and reaching the semifinals of the Association of Independent Institutions Tournament.
