Men’s Soccer tabbed as NSAA preseason favorites
Bellevue was picked first in their first season in the North Star Athletic Association
MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue is the preseason favorite to win the 2015 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Soccer league title, the conference preseason poll was announced Monday. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. The preseason poll was voted by the league's head coaches.
The Bruins, who qualified for the NAIA Men's Soccer National Tournament before losing to Vanguard (Calif.) in the second round last season, totaled 16 points with four first-place votes to finish atop of the preseason poll. BU posted an overall record of 15-3-2 in 2014.
Jamestown (N.D.) earned the final first-place vote and recorded 13 points to finish second.
Waldorf (Iowa) was third with nine points, followed by Presentation (S.D.) fourth with seven points and Viterbo (Wis.) fifth with five points.
Bellevue opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 22 when they host Grand View at 5:30 p.m. at Bellevue Soccer Club. The team plays their inaugural NSAA contest against Viterbo on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Bellevue Soccer Club.
