The Bellevue University men's soccer team is predicted to finish second in the league according to the MCAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll released today. Oklahoma Wesleyan University is the preseason favorite to capture the conference title.
The Bruins return seven starters from last season's 9-9 squad that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament after winning the MCAC Tournament title with a 1-0 upset at fourth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan.
The Eagles finished 2013 with a 19-3 overall record (5-0 MCAC), capturing the MCAC regular season title before advancing to the quarterfinals at the NAIA National Tournament.
Headlining the list of Bruin returners are first team all-MCAC selections Alan Carr and Manuel Lira along with second teamers Lee Woolmore, Jacob Cawsey, Tobias Maertzke and Rob Jackson
Waldorf College, which posted an 8-10-1 mark a year ago (3-2 MCAC), is picked third in the 2014 preseason MCAC rankings.
Rounding out the rankings are Central Baptist College (t-4th), Central Christian College (t-4th) and York College (6th).
