OLATHE, Kan. -- Trent Remmich scored three goals to lead MidAmerica Nazarene University (1-0) to a 3-0 win over Bellevue University (0-1) in its 2011 season opener at Pioneer Field.
The Pioneers wasted little time to find the back the net when Remmich took a shot from inside the box and beat BU goalkeeper Luke Baxter in the seventh minute of play. Remmich added his second goal of the half on a header from Cam Cundiff at 25:15.
Remmich scored his third goal of the match on a shot from just outside the box in the 62nd minute.
David Lastra, the 2010 MCAC Offensive Player of the Year, led the Bruins with three shots. Remmich had a match-high seven shots.
Baxter played all 90 minutes in goal for BU and recorded four saves. Chris Ericksson collected four saves for MNU.
The Pioneers out-shot BU 13-9 and held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
The Bruins will return to action next week when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., for matches against William Carey University on Thursday, Sept. 1 and Northwood (Fla.) University on Saturday, Sept. 3.
