Men's soccer receives votes in preseason top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer program earned 36 votes in the preseason top 25 coaches' poll released today. Hastings College, the defending national champions, open the season ranked No. 1.
Matt Briggs is in his fifth season as the head men’s soccer coach at Bellevue University. In his first four seasons, Briggs has amassed a 51-20-5 (.704) overall record, guiding the Bruins to conference/independent tournament championships in three of the last four seasons, three MCAC regular season titles, and two NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship appearances.
The Bruins won the 2010 MCAC regular season title with a 4-0 mark and ended the season with a 13-6-1 overall record. Bellevue finished second in the MCAC/DAC/Frontier Unaffiliated Group Tournament, losing 2-1 to the University of Great Falls in the championship game.
BU will host exhibition matches against Iowa Western Community College on Aug. 20 at 7:00 p.m. and Doane College on Aug. 22 also at 7:00 p.m. at Tranquility Park before opening the regular season at MidAmerica Nazarene University on Aug. 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
