Men's soccer inks Pratt CC transfer Kavanagh
Bruin men's soccer coach Matt Briggs announced the signing of Pratt Community College tranfer Mitch Kavanagh (Southampton, England) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2012.
Kavanagh, the son of Hayley and Steve Kavanagh, captained his Pratt CC team both his freshman and sophomore seasons and was named the team MVP for the 2011 season.
“We are delighted to add Mitch to our squad for next fall," said Briggs. "He joins Gary Rafferty and Chaz Samushonga as transfer students from Pratt Community College and will add strength and depth to our squad as a defender."
Kavanagh earned honorable mention all-conference honors last season for the Beavers.
"Mitch has a great physical presence and has good quality on the ball," added Briggs. "He is a right sided center back who is good in the air and strong in a tackle. He, along with Gary Rafferty and Chaz Samushonga, will add some valuable experience to our newly formed squad.”
Kavanagh joins the Bruins' earlier signees Shawn Fitch (LaVista, Neb./Papillion-LaVista HS), Jamie Henderson (Lincoln, England), Alan Carr (Lincolnshire, England), Gary Rafferty (Glasgow, Scotland/Pratt CC/Clydebank HS), Conor O'Reilly (Birmingham, England/Arch Bishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College), Matt Ward (Lincoln, England/North Lincolnshire College), Corey Smith (Ulvertson, England/Ulvertson Victoria HS), Leigh Veidman (Liverpool, England/Texas at Brownsville/IWCC) , Jo Maxwell (Maybole, Scotland/Carrick Academy) and Charles Samushonga (Glasgow, Scotland/Pratt CC).
