Briggs adds Henderson to 2012 signing class
Bellevue University men's soccer coach Matt Briggs anounced today the signing of Jamie Henderson (Lincoln, England) to a letter of intent to join the Bruins for the 2012 season.
Henderson played his high school soccer at North Lincolnshire College in Lincoln, England under head coach John Priestley. He was named the Manager's Player of the Year in 2010.
“Jamie will join his North Lincolnshire College teammates Matt Ward (right back) and Alan Carr (Left Back) at Bellevue," said Briggs. "He is a holding midfielder and does a great job sitting in front of the back four and screening the center backs. Jamie has good quality on the ball and doesn’t give it away cheaply."
Henderson also played for Lincolnshire FA under 18's, helping his team to the league championship.
"It is great to sign another player of Jamie’s quality with our program," added Briggs. "He has a great footballing background having played for Doncaster until under 16 and then moving onto college and playing under John Priestley for his last two seasons.”
Henderson joins the Bruins' earlier signees Alan Carr (Lincolnshire, England), Gary Rafferty (Glasgow, Scotland/Pratt CC/Clydebank HS), Conor O'Reilly (Birmingham, England/Arch Bishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College), Matt Ward (Lincoln, England/North Lincolnshire College), Corey Smith (Ulvertson, England/Ulvertson Victoria HS), Leigh Veidman (Liverpool, England/Texas at Brownsville/IWCC) , Jo Maxwell (Maybole, Scotland/Carrick Academy) and Charles Samushonga (Glasgow, Scotland/Pratt CC).
