Bruins to play defending National Champs
Bellevue University men's soccer head coach Matt Briggs announced today that the Bruins will play a spring exhibition match against last year's NAIA national champions, Hastings College. The match will be sponsored by Blackstone Hunting and is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Bellevue Soccer Club on 3614 Twin Creek Drive in Bellevue.
"We are looking forward to competing against the defending national champions, Hastings College," said Briggs. "This match is a tremendous opportunity for our players to compete against the top talent in the NAIA. We are also delighted to welcome Blackstone Hunting as a new sponsor for the Bruin men's soccer team for this match and for the entire 2011 season.
The Bruins won the 2010 MCAC regular season title with a 4-0 mark and finished the season with a 13-6-1 overall record. Bellevue finished second in the Unaffiliated Group Tournament, losing 2-1 to the University of Great Falls in the championship game.
Hastings will also play Iowa Western Community College on Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m.
Prior to the exhibition, the Bruins will be holding a youth soccer skills clinic on Friday, April 15 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Bellevue Soccer Club on 11320 South 42nd Street. The cost is \$10 per camper. More information about the clinic will be made available soon.
