Bruins seventh after Day One of The Battle
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. -- Dylan Rodgers is fifth overall for the Bellevue University men's golf team which stands in seventh place with play suspended late during the second round of play from The Battle at Laughlin Ranch.
Bellevue shot 26-over as a team on the day with scores logged for 14-17 holes for the team at the 7,155-yard, par 72 Laughlin Ranch Golf Club.
No. 12-ranked Wayland Baptist University lead a loaded 20-team field that features 12 nationally ranked teams. Six of the teams competing are ranked within the top 10 and two more are receiving votes, including the Bruins.
WBU is 6-over as a team, two strokes ahead of No. 2 Keiser University. Tied for third are No. 8 Texas Wesleyan University and No. 6 Ottawa University at 22-over. No. 1 Oklahoma City University rounds out the top five.
Dylan Rodgers was the top Bruin individual on the day. At 1-over he's tied for fifth place in the 100-golfer field.
Cayden Wynne is 18th at 6-over, Kyle Dale is 41st at 9-over, Thomas Gatlin is 53rd at 11-over, and Randy Christiansen is 85th at 18-over.
Texas Wesleyan's Colin Price is the overall tournament leader at 4-under through 15 second round holes. He holds a two-stroke lead over Kesier's Adam Buchanan.
Third round play begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. central (9:30 a.m. local time).
