Bellevue posts strong second round on day one of NW Iowa Invite

Bellevue's first round 19-over (303) was the worst among the 14-team field but a strong 6-over (290) second round saw the Bruins vault four places on the team leaderboard into 10th place after shooting 593 (+25) in two rounds.
No. 18 Oklahoma City University holds a commanding 15-stroke lead after 36 holes after the Stars shot -11 on the day (557). No. 10 Friends University (+4, 572) is in second, six strokes ahead of No. 3 Texas Wesleyan University, RV Kansas Wesleyan University, and No. 13 Ottawa University (Ariz.) in a three-way tie for third at 10-over (578).
Friends' Trinton Noble holds a one-stroke lead over Oklahoma City's Carter Ray on the individual leaderboard. Noble posted a 4-under 67 first round to Ray's 3-under 68 while both shot an even par 71 in the second.
Thomas Gatlin was Bellevue's top individual on the day. He fired a 4-over 75 first round but followed up with a 3-under 68 in the second round to climb into a tie for 12th place in the 75-golfer field. His second round saw him notch four birdies, including doing so on back-to-back holes (No. 14-15) as he posed a 2-under on the front nine and 1-under on the back.
Cayden Wynne is tied for 23rd after a 4-over 146 that saw him shot a 3-over 74 to begin the day and follow up with a 1-over 72. He totaled five birdies on the day, including four in his second round where he posted matching 36's on the front and back.
Dylan Rodgers is tied for 33rd overall with a 6-over 148. His 2-over 73 in the first round was followed up by a 4-over 75 in the second. He birdied two holes, both in the first round, and made par on 26 pars on the day.
Kyle Dale is tied in 66th place after a 14-over day that saw him improve to a 4-over second round 75. He matched a Wynne with team-bests of four second round birdies and five on the day.
Ludwig Klingspor is tied for 70th overall at 17-over. He showed a five-stroke improvement from his first to second rounds. He sank all three of his birdies in that second round.
Final round play begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
