Bruins slip to third at Flyer Intercollegiate

LEMONT, Ill -- The Bellevue University men's golf team slipped two spots in Tuesday's final round, finishing in third place at the Flyer Intercollegiate being played at the 6,889-yard, par-72 Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.
The Bruins were the lone NAIA school in the 12-team field, which featured 10 NCAA Division II squads and one NCAA Division III program.
Bellevue shot a team score of 7-over par 295 to go along with Monday's 4-under 284, finishing the 36-hole tournament at 3-over par.
Davenport University won the team title at 3-under par with rounds of 286 and 287. Drury University edged out the Bruins at 1-over par (291-286 -- 577).
Sam Johnson was the top BU finisher in the tournament after shooting a 1-over 73 to go with Monday's 4-under 68. His 3-under par two-round total put him in a tie for third place in the 71-player field. For the second straight day, Johnson registered an eagle, this time on the par-4, 320-yard 17th hole. He also recorded a pair of birdies in his second round.
Totte Uhlan fired a 1-over 73 and finished the tournament at 1-over par, putting him in 9th place. Uhlan birdied three of his first five holes.
Hugo Brandt and Cayden Wynne both carded 4-over 76's, as both finished the tournament at 4-over par following the pair's even-par rounds of 72 on Monday. The duo tied for 13th place.
Dylan Rodgers was the third Bruin to tally a 1-over 73 in Tuesday's second round. He finished the tournament at 8-over par, good for a tie for 27th place. Rodgers' round was highlighted by an eagle and four birdies.
Davenport's Brandon Bodis won the individual title, finishing at 7-under par with rounds of 68 and 69. Hunter Jowers of Drury placed second at 4-under par (70-70 -- 140).
The Bruins will be back in action this Friday-Saturday, Oct. 6-7, when they travel to Axtel, Neb., to compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate at Awarii Dunes.
