Navarrete, Ronnberg named first team All-Americans
After fantastic seasons in 2022-23, junior Hugo Ronnberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Rodrigo Navarrete (Guadalajara, Mexico) were both named first-team NAIA All-Americans as announced today by the national office.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- After fantastic seasons in 2022-23, junior Hugo Ronnberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Rodrigo Navarrete (Guadalajara, Mexico) were both named first-team NAIA All-Americans as announced today by the national office.
Ronnberg is fresh off a second-place finish at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship last week at the Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. After finishing in a tie for first place after 72 holes, Ronnberg lost on the second playoff hole to The Master's Easton Johnson.
Ronnberg captured the individual title at the North Star Athletic Association Championship, helping guide the Bruins to the league championship and their 10th appearance at the NAIA National Championship.
On the season, Ronnberg led the Bruins with three individual titles and seven top-10 finishes while compiling a team-leading 72.1 strokes-per-round average. He recorded a season-low score of 65 in the second round of the U.C. Ferguson Classic.
Navarrete earned two individual titles in 2022-23 and was named the NSAA Men's Golfer of the Week on two occasions. He earned first-team all-NSAA honors for the fourth time in his career.
Navarrete, a first-team PING all-Central Region selection, had six top-10 finishes in 2022-23 and was second on the squad with a 72.4 strokes-per-round scoring average.
Navarrete had a team-leading six rounds during the season where he scored under 70.
Ronnberg and Navarrete helped guide the Bruins to a sixth-place finish at the 2023 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. It marked the third-straight season that Bellevue has finished in the top 10 at Nationals.
