BU leads after 1st round at NSAA Championship

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Led by junior Andrea Becerra, the Bellevue University men's golf team holds a seven-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2019 North Star Athletic Association Championship being held at the 6,574-yard, par-72 Platteview Golf Club on Monday.
Four teams are within eight shots of the lead in the six-team tournament.
The Bruins shot a team score of 28-over par 316 on Monday while Valley City State University sits in second at 35-over par (323). Waldorf and Viterbo are both tied for third with opening-round team scores of 324.
Becerra fired an opening-round score of 5-over 77 and is tied for the tournament lead with Viterbo's Eric Olson.
Viterbo's Jake Schroeckenthaler and VCSU's Casey Julson are tied for third at 6-over par.
Waldorf's Mitch Anderson and Manuel Zorrilla along with VCSU's Collin Hoss are tied for fifth with BU's Juan Gomez and Floris-Jan Oosterhof at 7-over par.
The final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
