Two members of the Bellevue University men's golf team, Mike Hannon and Zach Taylor, competed in the Greater Omaha Golf Championship on Aug. 9-10 at the Dodge Riverside Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The tournament was a benefit for the Bruin golfers as well as childhood cancer reasearch at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. In addition, scholarships were awarded to an area boy/girl golfer who exemplified outstanding achievements through golf and academics at the high school level.
Hannon and Taylor both earned $750 scholarships during the event.
Bellevue head coach Rob Brown was one of the planners and organizers of the tournament/fundraiser, which will be an annual event.
"We are grateful that the leaders of the Greater Omaha Golf Championship allowed Bellevue golf to benefit from this outstanding annual event," said Brown.
The Bruin men's golf team will open the 2014-15 season at the Southwestern Christian Invitational on Sept. 2-3 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
