Brown hires women's golf coach Shelly Hogan
Bellevue University head golf coach Rob Brown announced the hiring today of Shelly Hogan as head women's golf coach. Hogan will also assist Brown with the men's program.
A native of Lincoln, Neb. and Ottumwa, Iowa, Hogan played collegiately at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She also coached at her alma mater and was the head women's golf coach at Wichita State University from 2003-04.
"I am very pleased to have someone of Shelly's caliber assisting me as we build the Bruin golf programs," said Brown.
Hogan, a member of the LPGA since 1993, is a certified professional golf club fitter and has taught golf schools in Alabama, Arizona, New Zealand, Sweden, Germany, Hawaii, and California.
She has worked closely with several PGA and LPGA touring professionals and has participated in Golf 54 and Vision 54 training with Lynn Marriott and Pia Nielsen.
In addition to coaching collegiately at UAB and Wichita State, Hogan also coached Summit High School girls golf in Bend, Ore.
Hogan specializes in player development, as well as the mental game and short game.
The Bruins will begin their first season of play during the 2011-12 academic year.
Both Brown and Hogan are busy recruiting and scheduling for the inaugural season of Bruin golf.
