Andersen collects Frontier Conference Pitcher of the Week Honors

HELENA, Mont. — Bellevue University senior Brayden Andersen (Kearney, Neb.) has been selected as the Frontier Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Over the course of two starts, Andersen surrendered just one earned run to finish the week with a 0.82 ERA. He surrendered only seven hits in 11 innings of work, resulting in a 1.09 WHIP and a .172 opponent batting average. He also accounted for nine strikeouts while securing two victories for the No. 3-ranked Bruins, helping the team balloon their current winning streak to 23 games.

Andersen turned in a stellar performance against Mayville State, throwing six innings of two-hit, shutout ball in a tight 2-1 victory. That followed his strong out against Dickinson State where he held the Blue Hawks to just one run on four hits over five innings. Andersen's efficiency kept the Bruins in the game during a 1-1 deadlock that lasted into the sixth inning before Bellevue eventually pulled away.

Andersen leads the Frontier Conference in both wins and earned run average this season as he is 8-0 with a 3.08 ERA across 10 starts this season for the Bruins. He has logged 44 strikeouts in 52.2 innings of work against just 17 walks while posting a 1.25 WHIP and opponents are batting just .250 against the right-hander.

Bellevue stands at 35-3 overall and a perfect 15-0 in Frontier Conference play. Bellevue is seven games ahead of second place with just nine games remaining in the regular season. The Bruins will look to keep their streak alive tomorrow when they head up to Madison, S.D. for a 2 p.m. first pitch against Dakota State University.

They return home to the Renner-Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex for a four-game series against Dakota State University this weekend with doubleheaders on Friday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 18, starting at noon. Following play on Saturday, the Senior Class will be recognized for their contributions to the program during Senior Day ceremonies.
