Butt lauded as Frontier Conference Pitcher of the Week

HELENA, Mont. — Bellevue University junior Kody Butt (St. John's, Newfoundland) has been named the Frontier Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Butt led the Bruins to a 10-2 victory over Aquinas College, a win that propelled Bellevue to a 15-3 start. The mark matches the best 18-game start in program history, previously achieved by the 1999 and 2016 squads.

The left-hander delivered a dominant performance, striking out a career-high 13 batters in just six innings of work. Butt surrendered only three hits in the outing to earn his third victory of the season.

On the year, Butt has racked up 32 strikeouts in 21.1 innings of work, good for a 13.50 K/9 ratio. With the win, he improved to 3-1 on the mound while lowering his ERA to 4.22 and his WHIP to 1.13.

Ranked No. 7 in the latest GoRout NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, BU returns to action tomorrow, Mar. 10, as they continue their Florida swing with a 6 p.m. local start (5 p.m. Central) against Warner University from Royals Field in Lake Wales, Fla.
