Makarus takes home NSAA honor
BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University junior Ayden Makarus (Okotoks, Alberta) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, as announced by the NSAA office on Monday.
Makarus hit .429 with a 1.528 OPS last week, helping lead the Bruins to seven victories as they extended their current win streak to 16 games. Five of his nine hits went for extra-bases, including four home runs, while he totaled 10 RBI, and scored eight runs. Makarus had hits in six of seven games and an extra-base hit in five difference games.
For the season, Makarus is now hitting .292 with an OPS of .988. He has 13 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, and 21 runs scored. His .629 slugging percentage and OPS each rank fourth on the team while his eight home runs are good for third on the club.
Bellevue (28-11/12-0 NSAA) travels to Crete, Neb. tomorrow for a 3 p.m. non-conference tilt against (RV) Doane University (25-10/12-8 GPAC) before playing their lone NSAA road series this weekend at Dakota State (19-18/6-6 NSAA).
