Bruins fortify backstop depth with signing of Anderson
C Eric Anderson (Bellevue, Neb./Southeast CC) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Eric Anderson (Bellevue, Neb./Southeast CC) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
The athletic 6-1, 190-pound catcher returns to his hometown of Bellevue where he played high school ball at Bellevue West High School. Anderson enjoyed a stellar JuCo career at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Neb. where he was a two-year starter for the Storm, helping them to and 84-28 record including winning the Region IX Championship this past spring.
In two years at Southeast, Anderson hit .351 with an OPS of 1.143 in 93 games. He belted 26 home runs - while totaling 46 extra-base hits - and drove in 104 while also swiping 20 stolen bases in 22 attempts.

"We are happy to be adding Eric to the Bellevue Baseball Family. He enjoyed a great deal of success in his previous years at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Eric has the ability to hit for both power and average. His bat has the chance to make an immediate impact on our program. He is a Bellevue West High School graduate, so he is getting the opportunity to come back home and play in front of family and friends."
Anderson joins previously announced signees Hunter Herpel (OF, Mayville, Wis./Hibbing CC), Ayden Adams (RHP, Federal Way, Wash./Everett CC), Titus Oien (LHP, Vancouver, Wash./Clark College), Nick Grade (3B, Kennewick, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Logan Grant (UT, Calgary, Alta.), Jake Lacey (OF, Gillette, Wyo./Miles CC), Jacob Pubill (RHP, Daly City, Calif./Laney College), Parker McMan (RHP, Bozeman, Mont./Umpqua CC), Jared Eifler (RHP, Calgary, Alta./Shoreline CC), Kenji Miller (LHP, Shoreline, Wash./Everett CC), and Takumi Maeno (OF, Fukuoka, Japan/Ohlone College) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.
Bellevue is coming off a 2022 season in which the program made its 15th Avista NAIA World Series appearance. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 49-13 overall mark, going 25-2 in conference play and sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU took the league's lone automatic bid in making their 24th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosted their fourth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field, and reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in the past six full seasons.
