BU Baseball signs OF Hansen

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Tommy Hansen (Genoa, Ill/Kishwaukee College/Genoa Kingston HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall.

Hansen comes to Bellevue from Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill. In his two seasons with the Kougars Hansen, a 6-3, 180-pound outfielder appeared in 89 games. He posted a slash line of .308/.388/.404 with 20 extra-base hits, 32 RBI, 60 runs scored, and 29 stolen bases.

This past season Hansen saw action in 53 games, helping Kishwaukee College to a 34-24-1 record while hitting .318 with a career-high 13 extra-base hits, a .404 slugging percentage, 24 RBI, and 36 runs scored. He was successful in 24 of 29 stolen base attempts and committed just one error in 99 chances in the outfield.

Coach Monlux on Hansen:

"Tommy is an athletic player we fell can come in and give us a boost both offensively and defensively. He has very good overall speed, and has the ability to steal bases. He had a solid sophomore campaign for Kishwaukee College. In addition, he is a great student and a great person."

Hansen joins previously announced signees Hunter Jury (C; Davis, Calif.), Colton Walker (RHP; Goldendale, Wash.), Anthony Alvarado (LHP; Wapato, Wash.), Cody Banks (3B; Duvall, Wash.), Derek Browne (RHP; Maple Valley, Wash.), Wataru Kazama (SS/2B; Tokyo, Japan), Jarrett Poh (LHP; Varina, Va.), Daniel Teasley (OF; Rio Dell, Calif.), and Jesus Jimenez (IF; South San Francisco, Calif.) in the Bruins 2018 recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up the 2018 season with a 38-23 overall record (17-5 NSAA) and won their second North Star Tournament in the last three seasons. The Bruins earned their eighth-straight NAIA Opening Round bid and 21st NAIA National Tournament Appearance in the program's storied history.
