BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Hunter Jury (Davis, Calif./College of the Redwoods/Davis HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
Jury comes to Bellevue from the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif. where he spent the past two seasons. The 6-0, 205-pound catcher was a two-time All-Golden Valley Selection playing for the Corsairs.
In his two seasons at CR Jury slashed .315/.442/.430 with 17 extra-base hits and 56 RBI. He totaled 85 hits and scored 58 runs while playing in 76 games and drew more than twice as many walks as he had strikeouts (43:18, 2.39).
Coach Monlux on Jury:
"We are really excited that Hunter is joining the Bellevue baseball family. He is a proven catcher that does the job behind the plate and also as a hitter. He will bring much needed depth to the catcher position for us for the next two years."
Bellevue wrapped up the 2018 season with a 38-23 overall record (17-5 NSAA) and won their second North Star Tournament Championship in the last three seasons. The Bruins earned their eighth-straight NAIA Opening Round bid and 21st NAIA National Tournament Appearance in the storied history of the Bruin Baseball program.
